When to send wedding invitations: the ideal timeline
7 October 2026 · 5 min read
Send invitations too late and guests may have other plans; too early and they forget. Here is the timeline most couples follow.
12–6 months before: the save the date
As soon as the date and venue are booked, send a save the date — essential if guests travel or the wedding falls on a holiday weekend.
3–4 months before: the invitations
Send the full invitation with the schedule, venues, accommodation, dress code, gift list and RSVP form. Online, you can send it to everyone in a minute.
4–6 weeks before: the RSVP deadline
Your caterer needs the final head count and you need it for the seating plan. Remind late guests politely two weeks before the deadline.
